Forest Fire Suppression

GCF is one of two private contractors providing the Province of Ontario Type II forest fire fighters to help in the suppression of wildfires in Ontario.  GCF currently has a contract to supply 40 four-man Type 2 crews.  These crews can be deployed anywhere in Ontario.

Base Camp

GCF has a contract with the Province of Ontario to provide base camp services during escalated wildfire activity. GCF is responsible for supplying catering, food kits, food requisition orders, and camp janitorial services.

Community Wildlife Protection Plan (CWPP) Development

A community wildfire protection plan (CWPP) is a strategy for reducing the wildland fire risk around a community. Plans include an overview of the community, priority zones where fuel management should take place, and mitigation measures communities can take to lessen the impact of encroaching wildfires. GCFI works to develop the document, as well as consulting with community leaders and experts to ensure each CWPP works for each community.

Consulting

Geraldton Community Forest Inc. provides wildfire consulting services that support community preparedness, operational readiness, and sustainable workforce development. Our services include funding proposal development, program design, and project support for wildfire prevention, mitigation, response, and training initiatives. With a strong focus on training and capacity building, GCF works in partnership with First Nations and local communities to develop skilled wildfire personnel, strengthen local response capabilities, and create meaningful employment opportunities. Our consulting approach is collaborative, practical, and informed by extensive experience operating in remote and northern environments across Ontario.
